Nikita Dragun was born in Belgium with Vietnamese and Mexican descent. She attended high school in Virginia, United States. In her teen years, she came out as trans. She never tried to hide away her gender identity and has spoken openly about it in several of her YouTube videos.

Nikita Dragun even being always brave with her identity, struggled a lot as well because of the same, since her childhood. Her first name as a transgender woman was Nicole Nguyen, although her original name is not known. Her parents had moved to Belgium temporarily where she was born. But later in her teen years, they moved to Los Angeles. Nikita started her YouTube channel in the year 2013. Soon, a year after, in 2014, she started uploading make-up tutorials and product recommendations. Her audience appreciates all Her tutorials and recommendations, and majority of her fans are binary women and transgenders alike. In the first year of her channel, Nikita gained over 50,000 subscribers and soon within another year, her followers increased to 400,000.
Nikita soon became popular among her fans and because of her confident nature and enthusiasm to do something new, she started appearing in the music videos and starring in the web series as well. In the year 2018, Nikita appeared in two music videos and in the subsequent year,2019, she was again seen in two more music videos, and once again in the year 2020. Nikita also appeared on the popular Netflix T.V. show “Hype House”. Additionally, She also received invitation to participate in the web series like “Escape the Night” and “Instant Influencer with James Charles.”
Career
Nikita started her journey by joining YouTube in February 2013. As per her, “I started to get little brand deals around that time. That was also when I decided to start taking Instagram and YouTube seriously.”
While she was living in Los Angeles in the year 2015, she came out as transgender. Her revelation was a shock to the people, but everyone appreciated her brave decision, and after that, she gained immense popularity over the internet.
After this, Nikita also got offers to work as a model for renowned brands like Jeffree Star Cosmetics. In the year 2018, Nikita debuted in the mystery web series Escape the Night, and later in the same year, she was featured in music videos like Heart to Break and That Bih.
Nikita has been quite passionate for beauty and make-up and therefore she studied at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and obtained her degree in the year 2017. After completing her graduation, Nikita started up her business in the year 2019 and created a virtual brand of make-up. She named her make-up brand as “Dragon Beauty.” Although, the brand’s make-up products were created focusing the mainstream market, but these products also proved beneficial to the transgender population who related to Nikita’s story and wanted good-quality products. All the makeup products are vegan and cruelty-free, which was also the reason for Nikita to decide to launch her brand independently.
Controversies
According to the Local 10 News, Nikita Dragun allegedly caused disturbance at The Goodtime Hotel. As per the sources, she was seen walking naked around the hotel pool which stirred quite a controversy. Reportedly, the hotel security staff tried to stop Nikita, but she threw water on them. Later, the Police were called, and Nikita was warned to stop disturbing the patrons at the hotel, but she didn’t stop and started hitting and throwing water bottles at Police and security staff. Because of this, she got arrested and held in a men’s unit of the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami. The charges of misdemeanor disorderly conduct and felony battery of a law enforcement officer were pressed against Nikita after this incident. She was jailed for one day and after that was released on her own recognizance, meaning she didn’t have to pay for her bail.
As per the representatives for Nikita Dragun, they blamed and criticized the Miami police for mishandling the entire situation, although they didn’t comment about the charges which were pressed against her.
As per Jack Ketsoyan, a representative for Dragun with Full Scope Public Relations “The situation with Nikita, who is legally female, being placed in a men’s unit of a Florida jail is extremely disturbing and dangerous. This decision made by the Miami-Dade County corrections department directly violates their protocol, which mandates that transgender inmates are classified and housed based on safety needs and gender identity.
Although Nikita Dragun’s arrest and incarceration in a men’s unit are notable given her stature, but it’s a common occurrence for many transgender individuals incarcerated in the United States. Sometimes, many corrections departments place individuals in facilities as per their assigned sex at birth or genitalia at the time they were arrested. This is regardless of the research showing that transgender inmates face greater risk of assault and abuse.
Nikita Dragun speaks out after arrest over nude pool incident
On 20th November 2021, Nikita posted on Instagram and thanked her fans and informed that she will be taking a break from social media to recover from the incident.
In her post, she wrote, “ Thank everyone for support recently and the outpouring of love. I will always been open with you guys for my health journey and an appropriate time for that, but oftentimes the best way to heal and grow is to do so privately. So, I will be off social media for a while to take care of my mental health and overall well-being. I will see you soon and love you all.”
As per the reports from TMZ based on the statement from Nikita’s representative, claimed that the socialite was receiving mental health treatment after the incident.
