When wealthy video store magnate Johnny Rose and his family are suddenly short of money, they are forced to abandon their pampered lives to reunite at Schitt’s Creek. The wealthy Rose family loses their fortunes when video store boss Johnny, his wife and former soap opera actor Moira and their spoiled adult children, David and Alexis, are swindled by their Business Managers. 

They are forced to rebuild their lives with their only remaining assets. A small town called Schitt’s Creek that Johnny bought as a joke birthday present for David in 1991. The Rose family moves to the small town of Schitt’s Creek and takes up two adjacent rooms in a run-down motel. As the family adjusts to their new life, their well-meaning behavior is met with a smackdown, including from mayor Roland Schitt, his wife Jocelyn, and the motel’s manager, Stevie.

Schitt’s Creek had humble beginnings. The CBC Television sitcom aired its first 15 episodes in 2015, with little attention and modest praise.
